July 1993: awarded the A Levels in Science and Biology  (Baccalaureat D) with honours.

 September 1993: enters medical school in the University of Milan.

 July 1999: MD title at the Milan University magna cum laude. Discusses a research thesis with Prof.A.Zanchetti ( Title: Identification of  macrovascular coronaropathy in hypertensive patients: confrontation between perfusional myocardial scintigraphy and stress echocardiography)

 October-november 1999: succeeds entry examinations in 3 different Cardiology Postgraduate Schools (Milan,Brescia and Pisa) 

  March 2000: starts postgraduate training in Cardiology at Milan University (Prof.A.Zanchetti). 

 November 2002: Cardiology Specialist Diploma at Milan University Medical School magna cum laude. Discusses a research thesis with Prof .F.Magrini.

 

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

CARDIOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE

July 1999-june 2000: Internship in Clinical Cardiology at the Division of Cardiology of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, directed by Prof.S.L. Chierchia (tutor: Dott. A.Maillhac)

 September 2000-december 2002: Internship in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan under the supervision of Dr.C.Pappone.

 January 2003-february 2004: Internship in Clinical Cardiology, Echocardiography and Electrophysiology at the San Martino University Hospital in Genoa.

  March 2004-February 2006: fellowship in Interventional Electrophysiology in the Cardiac Electrophysiology Unit at the OLV Hospital in Aalst directed by Prof.Pedro Brugada. 

March 2006-June 2007: staff member of the EP units of Villa Azzurra Hospital (Rapallo-Genoa) and and Villa Maria Cecilia Hospital (Lugo-Ravenna).

 July 2007-cont: staff member and Director of the Atrial Fibrillation program in the Heart Rhythm Management Institute of the Vrije Universtair Ziekenhuis of Brussels directed by Prof. Pedro Brugada.    

EXPERIENCE IN ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY

-          Single and dual chamber permanent pacing (300 procedures as first operator)

 -          Single and dual chamber AICD (103 procedures as first operator)

-          Biventricular chamber pacing in patients with CHF (58 as first operator)

     -          Procedures of  RF transcatheter ablation of supraventricular tachycardias (802 as first operator) including RF         ablations of Atrial Fibrillation using electroanatomical mapping techniques(Carto-Biosense Webster) and             Cryoballoon Arctic Front techniques.(more than 300 procedures)

 -          Transvenous temporary pacing by both femoral and brachial approach.

 -          More than 1000 EP studies as first operator.

  -     Transseptal punctures more than 400 as first operator.

  

 

NON CARDIOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE

  

September 1997- july 1997: Studentship in Oftamology at the Department of Vision Sciences of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan (Prof.R.Brancato.)

 July- august 2002: Locum general practitioner in a busy rural practice 

 September 2002-february 2004 : On call internist (week-end duties) at the Istituto di Medicina Interna Don Carlo Gnocchi, Milan.
